Funkademia takes place every Saturday to a consistently full house, feeding a friendly crowd with a diet of pure unadulterated soul-funk.
We bill our night as a ‘chronological history of soul’ with our dj collective taking you on a journey through four decades of the very best soul, funk, disco and hip-hop with a touch of smooth r&b and some big house classics.
Funkademia does sell out most weeks so you are advised to either arrive early or purchase advance tickets, this way you can avoid the queues or even the sold out sign.
We are now not only the longest running weekly club night in Manchester but we were also crowned the best club night by Galaxy FM. On November 6th 2010, Funkademia celebrate 15 years as a weekly club night in Manchester city centre.
Our resident DJs are supported by regular weekly guests including Good for the Soul, Bus Stop Records, Jason Vereker, Trafford Lovething, Dave Wareing, Dave Hulston, Les Croasdaile, Myk Nolan, Mark Hogg and Neil Scott.
We have also witnessed some super guest DJ sets from Manchester legends Dave Haslam, Greg Wilson, Graeme Park and David Dunne as well as Norman Jay mbe who dropped by for our 14th birthday celebrations at the end of 2009.
The night takes place every Saturday at Mint Lounge Nightclub. The venue is located on Oldham Street Manchester right in the heart of the city’s coolest night time scene, The Northern Quarter. A sexy two room club space with loads of atmosphere and a different vibe happening in each room, perfect for our soulful soirées.
